Graphene Single-Electron Pump Creates Electron Flow by Shuttling Them into Quantum Dots

A new joint innovation by the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) and the University of Cambridge could pave the way for redefining the ampere in terms of fundamental constants of physics. The world's first graphene single-electron pump (SEP), described in a paper today in Nature Nanotechnology, provides the speed of electron flow needed to create a new standard for electrical current based on electron charge.

‘Passport to the Big Bang’ Scientific Tourist Trail to be Inaugurated by CERN

CERN, in collaboration with its local partners, will be inaugurating a scientific tourist trail through the Pays de Gex and the Canton of Geneva known as the Passport to the Big Bang. A major programme of activities has been organised for the general public at various CERN sites, including special events and bike rides.

Massive Muon g-2 Storage Ring to be Transported from New York to Illinois

Scientists from 26 institutions around the world are planning a new experiment that could open the doors to new realms of particle physics. But first, they have to bring the core of this experiment, a complex electromagnet that spans 50 feet in diameter, from the U.S. Department of Energy's Brookhaven National Laboratory in New York to the DOE's Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in Illinois.
