Quantum Materials Expands Volume Production of Photoactive Quantum Dots

Quantum Materials Corp today announced that it is scaling volume production of photoactive quantum dots for use in next-generation photovoltaic solar power technologies. While offering numerous advantages for solar power generation, the high cost and difficulty of producing large quantities of quantum dots with which to develop thin film solar cells has until now kept them from commercial utilization and acceptance.

On April 23, NASA's Swift satellite detected the strongest, hottest, and longest-lasting sequence of stellar flares ever seen from a nearby red dwarf star. The initial blast from this record-setting series of explosions was as much as 10,000 times more powerful than the largest solar flare ever recorded.

AMS Detector on ISS Measures Sum Flux of Cosmic Rays Electrons and Positrons

Latest results of the measurement of high-energy particles with the AMS detector on the international space station ISS provide for a deeper understanding of the origin and nature of cosmic rays. A young investigator group of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which is headed by Dr. Iris Gebauer, is involved in this experiment. It measured the sum flux of cosmic rays electrons and positrons. The spokesperson of the AMS project, Professor Samuel C. C. Ting, presented the results at the CERN Research Center last week.
