IQuAn – Combining High Performance Computing and Quantum Computing

Partners from academia and industry, led by the University of Mainz, have started a collaborative research project with the ambitious goal to build a quantum computer, interface it with an existing supercomputer and also enable access to external users. Study Assesses the Dynamics of Positron Acoustic Waves in Dense Plasmas

The investigation of Electron-Positron-Ion (EPI) plasma----a fully ionised gas of electrons and positrons that includes astrophysical plasmas like solar winds----has attracted a great deal of attention over the last twenty years. A new study published in EPJ D by Garston Tiofack, Faculty of Sciences, University of Marousa, Cameroon, and colleagues, assesses the dynamics of positron acoustic waves (PAWS) in EPI plasmas whilst under the influence of magnetic fields, or magnetoplasmas.

Comet-Like Object Spotted Near Trojan Asteroid Population for the First Time

After traveling several billion miles toward the Sun, a wayward young comet-like object orbiting among the giant planets has found a temporary parking place along the way. The object has settled near a family of captured ancient asteroids, called Trojans, that are orbiting the Sun alongside Jupiter. This is the first time a comet-like object has been spotted near the Trojan population.
