Photon Experiment Provides Complete Experimental Proof on Quantum World’s Conflict with Everyday Experience

A team led by the Austrian physicist Anton Zeilinger has now carried out an experiment with photons, in which they have closed an important loophole. The researchers have thus provided the most complete experimental proof that the quantum world is in conflict with our everyday experience. The results of this study appear this week in the renowned journal Nature (Advance Online Publication/AOP).

Airplane Passengers May Receive Sizable Dose of Radiation from Dark Lightning during Thunderstorms

“What are the radiation doses to airplane passengers from the intense bursts of gamma-rays that originate from thunderclouds?" Florida Institute of Technology Department of Physics and Space Science faculty members will address the issue and present their modeling work at a press conference meeting of the European Geosciences Union in Vienna, Austria, April 10. Joseph Dwyer, Ningyu Liu and Hamid Rassoul will discuss a new physics-based model of radiation dose calculations and compare the calculations to previous work.
