Overwhelmingly Response at Southwest Quantum Technologies Group Workshop

The goal of the SWQT is to bring together the quantum expertise in the GW4, as well as industry in the southwest and beyond, that may not normally get a chance to interact, foster collaboration, and ultimately strengthen the quantum community, leading to more resources and opportunities for quantum technology research and innovation in the future.

Over 50 participants attended, from the GW4 universities (Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter), industry representatives from D-Wave Systems, Chronos Technology, Gooch & Housego, Kilburn & Strode, and the European Space Agency, as well as our keynote speaker Prof Stephen Barnett from the University of Glasgow.

We also had a welcome from Bristol's PVC Research, as well as a presentation from InnovateUK about the UK's quantum technologies strategy over the next few years.

There was an overwhelmingly positive response from participants (for both meetings), and industry representatives especially were appreciative of the chance to come and see what the quantum community in the southwest is up to; all efforts will be made to keep the momentum going, and if you have comments or suggestions please let us know!
