Daylight Solutions’ Quantum Cascade Laser Based Technology Awarded 16th Patent

Daylight Solutions, Inc. today announced the issuance of the company’s 16th patent relating to their Quantum Cascade Laser (QCL) based technology.

As an early pioneer in QCL-based systems, Daylight Solutions has multiple patents either issued or pending that range from component level inventions to applications utilizing mid-infrared laser technology.

The latest patent involves combining beams from individual QCL sources to create a single beam of greater combined power and/or a multiple wavelengths. The technique is valuable in a number of applications where high power or a combination of different wavelengths is necessary. One such application is infrared countermeasures (IRCM), where mid-infrared lasers are used to protect aircraft from heat-seeking missiles.

“Daylight Solutions continues to receive significant patents relevant to both our core technology and our broad range of applications. The company has now been awarded 16 patents with over 400 claims. Daylight Solutions is committed to our leadership position in QCL-based technology development, ensuring the greatest competitive advantage for our customers,” says Dr. Timothy Day, Daylight Solutions’ CEO and CTO. The company is engaged in discussions with several Fortune 100 companies to license their technology.
