Paul Avery is former Director of two NSF funded Grid projects, GriPhyN and the International Virtual Data Grid Laboratory (iVDGL). Currently, He is co-Principal Investigator on CHEPREO, which is using Grid technology and advanced networking to advance important education and outreach goals, UltraLight and PLaNetS, which together are integrating advanced networking into data intensive computing infrastructures.
His Interests include research in Experimental High Energy Physics. Dr. Avery also is participating in the CLEO experiment at Cornell University and the CMS experiment at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. Other interests include: decays of heavy quarks, software, including OO methods and fitting algorithms, and also computing, espcially distributed computing and Computational Grids where Dr. Avery is currently involved in a major grid initiative called GriPhyN.
