PPPL Physicist Performs Experiments that Indicate Efficiency of Coaxial Helicity Injection for Fusion Machines

Physicist Fatima Ebrahimi at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory (PPPL) and Princeton University has for the first time performed computer simulations indicating the efficiency of a start-up technique for doughnut-shaped fusion machines known as tokamaks.

Researchers Get $3 Million DOE Grant to Build Short-Distance Neutrino Detection Device for PROSPECT Experiment

Buoyed by a $3 million federal grant, an experiment led by Yale University with partners from four U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) national laboratories, including Brookhaven National Laboratory, and 10 universities will explore key questions about elusive particles called neutrinos—and potentially improve the way we monitor and safeguard nuclear reactors in the process.

A new analysis of the ALMA data for a young star HL Tauri provides yet more firm evidence of baby planets around the star. Researchers uncovered two gaps in the gas disk around HL Tauri. The locations of these gaps in the gas match the locations of gaps in the dust found in the ALMA high resolution image taken in 2014.
