Background

Prof. Stroud received his A.B. in Physics and Mathematics from Centre College, and his Ph.D. (1969) in Physics from Washington University. He is currently a Professor of Optics, Professor of Physics, and Director of the Center for Quantum Information. He is a fellow of the Optical Society of America as well as the American Physical Society. He has lectured in more than 75 different universities, held several lectureships, and during 1998-2004 is a Distinguished Traveling Lecturer for the Division of Laser Science of the American Physical Society. Stroud was the recepient of the University of Rochester School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS) Lifetime Achievement Award in 2003.
